Could The Spotting And Tissue Passing Indicate A Miscarriage At 9 Weeks Pregnant?
I have taken a pregnancy test a few times all positive and i m three months postpartum. with this current pregnancy i would be around 9 weeks and some days. i started spotting with bright red blood, then brownish, also with a tiny bit of tissue passing about the size of a nickel. I was wondering if I may be having a miscarriage?
Yes, it’s very possible. Miscarriage often starts with bright red bleeding that becomes heavier. Passage of clots and tissue. This is associated with cramping/pain in the lower abdomen or back. Even though your tests are still positive, that’s normal because hCG stays in your system for days to weeks even after a miscarriage. The presence of tissue strongly suggests some of the pregnancy tissue has passed.
You are advised to get clinically examined by an obstetrician. Get a pelvic examination done. Get an ultrasound done to see if the pregnancy is still viable or if all the tissue has passed. Check your hCG blood level and repeat it in 48 hours to see if it’s dropping. Sometimes, some tissue is retained and may require medical treatment (pills or a minor procedure called a D&C).
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
