Could The Swelling And Pain In My Left Labia Minora After Using Magnum Lube Be An Allergic Reaction?

So basically i had intercourse earlier around 5pm and we had put lube (Magnum, black bottle) and there was a bad burning sensation that felt cold at the same time but i didn’t think anything of it because it was tolerable (for me) but then we had to stop after like 5 minutes because the my left labia minora (inner) had swollen up so so badly i could even walk straight and i went to clean up after but i couldn’t even wipe because it hurt so badly so i was wondering if it was because of the lube (allergic reaction) or i have something else because this has never happened and now it went down but there’s still a little bit of swollen down there but yeah

Hello,

You did the right thing by stopping immediately and cleaning up. Most reactions calm down within 24–48 hours. Your symptoms are indicative of a contact allergic reaction or chemical irritation, most likely caused by the lubricant used. Since the symptoms came immediately after using the lube, it strongly suggests an external reaction, not a sexually transmitted infection (STI). However, if this isn't the first time and you experienced pain or swelling, then get a full check-up done.

Avoid use of lubes with menthol, parabens, etc. as it has a warming or cooling effect that may cause swelling of the private area. Use water-based or aloe vera-based natural lubes. If pain or swelling worsens or if this happens again, it’s vital to get clinically examined by a gynecologist to rule out deeper sensitivity or other conditions.

At present, stay at rest. Keep your private area clean. Avoid sex until you heal; it may take some time. You can apply the ointment Soframycin for relief and can take acetaminophen, one stat after food, to get rid of inflammation and pain.

I hope I have answered your question. Take care.
