Could The Swelling In The Foot Be Due To Broken Bone?

Last night my screen door window fell out and came crashing down on top of my foot. It's swollen and very tender to touch. I can walk on it but it does hurt slightly. I can't see if there is any brusing because I have a tattoo that covers the whole top of my foot. Could it be broken or just bruised?
