Could The White Bumps On My Scar Indicate An Infection?

Hi I have a burn scar from 6 months ago on my hand and index finger some parts of the scar was raised and had white bumps on it they where very sensitive and at times painful. So I got sick of it and ended up seeing if I could squeeze the white bumps out ( I know it wasn't very smart.) And I got them out but the next day I had fluid leaking out of the spots like blisters. My question is did I cause that or did I have a infection? It does feel less sensitive and my knuckle is a lot easier to move.

Hi,

I can understand your concern for white bumps on the scar. It appears that the area got secondarily infected.

You should meet your treating doctor to get proper diagnosis. Do not try to even touch or pinch the area as can cause more aggravation of the problem and spread of the infection. This area is quite common to get infected very easily because of sweating and high bacterial proliferation.

If I were your treating doctor then have suggest you to take oral antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin or cefadroxyl 500 mg two times a day for 5 days to prevent secondary infection. For time being period you can apply antibiotic cream such as fucidin or mupirocin and take pain killer tablets such diclofenac or paracetamol.

Take care.
