Could Throat And Eye Infection With Fatigue Post Unprotected Sex Indicate HIV Infection?

hi Doctor, I am a male, 30 yrs. I recently had unprotected vaginal intercourse with a sex worker in the UAE. This was about 3 weeks ago. The intercourse would have lasted less than 10 seconds and I did not ejaculate inside her. 2 days after the episode, I travelled to another country, and developed a throat infection followed a few days later by an eye allergy. I had no fever throughout and was put on antibiotics for 5 days. My throat, nose issues are almost completely gone after 2 weeks. I only have some fatigue now. Could this be a potential cursor to hiv? How high is the risk from my episode (which I shall never repeat)? Thank you.

Hi

Thanks for posting your query.

Neither your throat infection nor the weakness is due to HIV.
HIV will not cause problems so early.

Now coming to your risk for contacting HIV , well its high as it was unprotected sex and a vaginal intercourse. The risk depends more on the HIV status of that sex worker also.

My strong recommendation is to get tested for HIV and other Sexually transmitted Infection.
