Could Tingling And Itching Sensation In My Nipples Be From The Radiation Of A Mammogram?
It has been a month since I had a mammogram, and a repeat mammogram on the right side. A few days after the mammogram, I started to feel a tingling sensation in my nipples, mostly on the right side and only occasionally on the left. After a week or 2 of the tingling sensations, my breasts are itchy , especially the nipple area. And again, mostly on the right side. Could this tingling, and now itching be from the radiation of the mammogram? Or something more serious? There is no change in the skin s appearance.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
With no obvious changes, the symptoms of tingling and pain after mammogram is more likely to pressure of mammogram plate during the procedure. A simple pain killer over the counter would reduce the symptoms. If they persists after 2-3 days, you should consult your doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
