Could Tingling Feeling At The Tip Of Urethra Indicate STD Or Yeast Infection?

I have a weird tingle feeling at the tip of my urethra (pee hole) or whatever. No pain during urination or any other feeling down there or bumps everything s just fine and dandy. I ve had to episodes of unprotected sex with one person. Could this be a sign of a STD or yeast infection (we did anal as well)?

Hi,

Brief answer: Burning and tingling sensations at the urethra can be caused by a sexually transmitted infection.

However, it may also be caused by irritation from intercourse or from products used during intercourse.

Detailed answer: In my opinion the tingling sensation at your urethra may be a symptom of urethritis (inflammation and/or irritation of the urethra). Urethritis may be caused by a sexually transmitted infection either from a virus or bacteria.

In addition to urethral discomfort and burning, other symptoms of sexually transmitted infection include burning or stinging sensation when peeing, urethral discharge, blood in the urine, and pain in the pelvis or scrotum.

It is important to practice safe sex practice and always use condoms when engaging in intercourse.

A lack of lubrication and too much friction during unprotected intercourse can also irritate the urethra. Also the products used during intercourse such as lubricants can contain chemicals and scents that can irritate the urethra.

A chemical urethritis will typically resolve within 3 days upon avoidance of the offending irritant.

I recommend patients to get screened for sexually transmitted diseases, especially when having unprotected intercourse and/or having intercourse with multiple partners. You can talk with your doctor about getting tested for STDs.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Aaron Shapiro
