Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Unprotected sex is a risk factor in terms for transmission of all STD's.
STD's like gonorrhea, chlamydia present with vaginal discharge and burning on passing urine.
Therefore testing is recommended for these as well as other STD's.
Testing for gonorrhea and chlamydia can be done earliest at 2 weeks with a swab test, before that it may give a false negative result; Herpes can be tested with a blood test for detectable antibodies earliest at 2 weeks; HIV and syphilis can be tested initially at 1 month and later repeat tested at 3 months for a conclusive test.
Moreover if you develop any signs and symptoms suggestive of an STD you must get yourself checked with a venereologist.
STD's may present with symptoms at various times after they are acquired. Some may be clinically silent or have minor symptoms e.g gonorrhea, chlamydia and herpes.
While gonorrhea, chlamydia and Genital herpes have a short incubation periods ranging a few days; STD's like syphilis, chancroid, HIV and genital warts may present weeks after the infection was acquired.
Herpes usually presents as sores along with burning micturation and pelvic pain.
Syphilis usually presents with a painless genital sore whereas chancroid with extremely painful and fragile sore.
HIV may remain clinically silent for months before it is first suspected.
