Could Waking Up With Numbness In My Hand And Arm That Resolves After Movement Indicate A Serious Condition?

I wake up in the mornings frequently and have complete numbness in my hand and arm so I have to hit it with my other hand a good few times in order to get normal sensation back it usually goes back to normal then. Could it be a sign of something more serious?
