Could White And Pink Scar On The Side Of Tongue Indicate Cancer?
Hi I bit the side of my tongue badly 8 months ago, two months ago I noticed a small white / pink scar there , there is no pain and I don't have no lumps . I suffer with chronic anxiety and bipolar 2 . I'm obsessed with thinking this is cancer and petrified of going to the doctors I also have no other cancer symptoms
Welcome to HCM. Understanding your concern. As per your query white and pink scar on the side of tongue is due to chronic trauma on tongue. Teeth keeps on irritating same area of tongue and lead to peudomembranous candidiasis which is a fungal infection which lead to patches on tongue. I would suggest you to visit oral pathologist once and get it examined. Go for biopsy by taking specimen from tongue to rule out cancer. Visit dentist once and get that sharp area trimmed off and make that rounded. maintain proper oral hygiene. Brush and floss daily. Do tongue scrapping. Take antifungal medications. Take multivitamins on daily basis. Use Nystatin suspensions.
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
