Could White Bumps On Roof Of Mouth Indicate Bacterial Infection?

my 52 year old daughter mentioned she has white bumps on the roof of her mouth. She said there were some on her tongue but she scraped them off. She also said she had some trouble breathing a few days ago. I looked in her mouth and the white bumps were scary looking. I thought it might be a bacterial infection.

Hi Dear ,

As per your query your daughter has white bump on the roof of the mouth along with some breathing problem . Well there can b many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like torus palatinus , tooth abscess , irritation due to smoking , mucocele or cancer ( rare chance ) . As you mention that there are breathing difficulties , i would suggest you to consult oral pathologist for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically , order CT scan , X-ray or take biopsy . Doctor may refer you to oral surgeon in case of torus palatinus or mucocele . Oral surgeon may correct condition like torus palatinus by giving small incision under local anesthesia and file the bony growth . Doctor may also remove mucocele under local anesthesia . For now do warm saline rinses and do not touch it with tongue again and again .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
