Crystal Meth Addiction, Did Not Get Relief After Epidural Post Accident. Advice?
My mother is addicted to crystal meth . One week ago, she received an epidural in her neck for pain relief from a recent automobile accident. There was no pain relief and her drug tendencies (Ie: irritability , mood swings, defensiveness, hyper-activity, etc.) are much more severe. I want to show her proof that she needs to be extremely honest with all of her health care providers concerning her drug usage and the medical treatments she receives in the future. She is scheduled for a spinal surgery as well! Any advice you can give is helpful. Thank you
I understand your concerns. Crystal meth addiction can be fatal. I also believe that getting an epidural while being on meth and not letting the doctor know about the addiction can be serious as the withdrawals from the meth is very lethal if untreated. I suggest that you come forth with her history if you are concerned for her life as this is something you could do to prevent any lethal side effects. I hope you understand. Eventually she will need rehab but for the surgery you must let the doctor know of her addiction issues.
I hope this helps. Take care and have a lovely day!
