Cyst On The Cheek, Blood Oozing , Bad Odor. Suggested Animal Feed Antibiotic OTC. Is This Right?

My question is about my English Mastiff.. He had a cyst like thing on his left cheek. It must've popped a couple of days ago because it's slowly oozing blood and blood tinged puss-like liquid that has a bad odor. My issue is I don't have the means to take him in. I was told by a vet tech that I should shave the hair back and do hot water compresses on 3-4xd, x2d. I was also told by a trusted friend whom has animals that the feed store provides a great spray antibiotic that is OTC.. So what should I do? I think I want to try what the vet tech suggested, and then the spray.. But I fear of making the wrong decision.
Thank you for any response in advance,
