Deep Chest Cough With Yellow Phlegm. Taking Cough Syrup. Advice?

I have had a deep chest cough for 5 days, and have been treating it with rest, and taking cough syrup. I have been coughing up a small amount of yellow phlegm (probably an infection), and my wife recommends that I see a doctor, although I think rest and lots of water will make it go away just as fast. Any thoughts? Thanks, eric.

Hi,
As you got productive cough and continued for 5 days it is advisable to go for one antibiotic medicine course after consulting your doctor.
Continue cough syrup to expel the cough.
Ok and take care.
