Hi. Thanks for asking in Healthcare Magic. Your symptoms are suggestive of displacement of grommet. Grommet is usually inserted for either serous otitis media or secretory otitis media (glue ear). This ventilatory tube facilitates ventilation of middle ear cavity and helps in lessening the pathology in middle ear. Grommet is normally extruded in 6 weeks to 6 months. However, in some people, grommet may get displaced and can result in ringing noise, altered hearing, fullness in ear etc., Please check with your treating ENT surgeon to find out if grommet is in proper place. Removal of the present grommet and reinsertion of a new one will relieve you of your symptoms. I hope this is useful to you.
