Developed Itching Around The Navel Piercing. How Do I Take Care Of It?
just got my navel pierced at the end of July . A couple of Weeks ago i put in some gold plated jewelry now about a week and a half agorash like ring has form around the piercing and its horribly itchy. I want to keep it but what does this mean and how do i take care of it?
Hi, I can understand the concern for itching around the navel piercing. I have gone through your query with diligence and after reading your history it appears that you might have developed allergic contact dermatitis to some contact allergen.
I advise you to not pinch or pop the area otherwise these areas are very prone for getting secondary infection. You can apply an steroid cream such as cortisone cream.
You can go for patch test which tells us about skin allergy to the ring material which you are wearing. You should preferably meet a dermatologist who can examine you physically and provide you the best treatment.
For time being period you can apply antibiotic cream such as fucidin or mupirocin and take antihistamine tablet such as loratadine or cetrizine. Do not try to even touch or pinch the area as can cause more aggravation of the problem.
Take care
