Hi there,

Thanks for writing in.

Kindly mention your mother's age. What was the reason for changing the medication? You have mentioned inconvenience in swallowing. Did you mean acidity?

Sugar levels might have risen as the dosage in inadequate. If you have a glucometer at home, record her blood sugar on a particular day in the morning(fasting blood sugar), 2 hours after breakfast, 2 hours after lunch, 2 hours after dinner. Once you know at what time the sugar levels remain uncontrolled, the medication can be changed or adjusted accordingly with the help of her physician.

I would also advise her to do exercise ,as exercise does help in reducing blood sugar levels.

Soak 1 teaspoon of fenugreek(methi) seeds in half glass of clean drinking water and leave it overnight. In the morning drink this water and eat the soaked fenugreek seeks. Do this daily. It might help in reducing blood sugar levels.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
