Diabetic, Have Missed Periods, Tests Show One Faint Line. Conclusion?
hi, am 30 yrs old & have a 5 yr old daughter. the last time i missed my periods, i waited for some time & went to see my guneac but she said my result is negative for pregnancy & that it cud be cuz of irregular periods OR thyroid . but before i cud get thyroid test done, i got my periods. now after 3-4 months time i again missed my last 2 periods & i did a preg test by a kit of CIPLA brand, it clearly mention that if a fade line appears you are result is positive of u being pregnant. now i got 1 clear & 1 line (more than fade & less than dark). what do you advice. One important thing. am also diabetic (its genetic , both my parents are diabetic). how is it going to effect my pregnancy & should i be sure tat am pregnant (i have mentioned above abt the test already). please help. am worried.

I would say its a must for you to consult an obstetrician and get your pregnancy confirmed. Since you are a diabetic, you should take extra care as uncontrolled diabetes can affect your baby.
If blood sugar is not in control during the first 3 months of pregnancy, chances of birth defects are high.
Other problems like premature births, miscarriages, abnormalities in the birth weight and related complications can happen. So you may need to visit your obstetrician frequently to be sure things are alright.
Also hormonal changes that happen during pregnancy can accelerate the complications of diabetes in you.
So I would suggest you to consult an obstetrician at the earliest.

Faint line means its weakly positive. If you are more than 6weeks pregnant then you can directly get an ultrasound to confirm pregnancy . If you are less than 6 weeks then you need to do a blood test for beta hcG.
An ultrasound is a better option.
Pregnancy with diabetes is definitely a high risk pregnancy. Safe outcome is ensured only if your sugar levels are controlled.
There are risks of miscarriage, congenital defects, polyhydramnios (increased fluid around baby), big baby, intrauterine death of baby and many more if blood sugar levels are not under control.
Also if you are taking oral tablets for diabetes treatment then in pregnancy it is a must to switch over to insulin as these tablets have side effects on baby. Insulin is used to treat diabetes in pregnancy.
So for now you should confirm your pregnancy first by visiting a gynecologist and getting an ultrasound.
