Sir, Is Istamet 50/1000 tablets - 2 tab per day will reduce the weight of diabetic patient. In an year the weight loss is 22 Kgs. with 2 tabs per day. (88 Kgs to 66 Kgs) Or is there any other reason for such substantial weight loss to a diabetic patient. At present sugar level is normal. BP is normal but weight loss is 22 Kgs. Hello
ISTAMET has METFORMIN  and SITAGLIPTIN.
SITAGLIPTIN is weight neutral.
METFORMIN  was not originally designs to cause weightloss but recent studies have found that when this medicine is taken along with regular physical activity and proper diet control, significant weight loss can be achieved.
So the  cause of weight loss in you is due to the METFORMIN in ISTAMET.
If you have achieved your proper BMI,then there is nothing to do any thing.
It is better to have good sugar control with proper weight.
Thanks
