Diagnosed Annovulatory Hyperprolactinamia. History Of Miscarriage. On Bromocriptine And Primolut N. Will This Regularise Periods?

My name is lily, few months after mis-carriage, my period stop coming, after which I was diagonise of annovulatory hyperprolactinaemia, my doctor gave me bromocriptine and primolut N. And told me I will get my period in two weeks time. How true is it? Will primolut N tablets make me have my normal menstrual bleeding? Or withdrawal bleeding? Can I ovulate after last day of bleeding? Cus I know I'm most fertile shortly after my period.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Bromocriptine is the treatment for hyperprolactinaemia.
Primolut-N is given for an ovulatory cycles.
There are possibilities that you may have withdrawal bleeding after 2 weeks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The recommended treatment is likely to help you get your periods and fertility back but I cannot guarantee this in 2 weeks. In the beginning, you will have withdrawal bleeding but once your prolactin levels are within the normal range, your periods will return back to normal then you should not be needing primolut-N for withdrawals. Duration of the first half of a woman's cycle is very variable and you may ovulate just after your periods.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Kulsoom Qureshi
