Diagnosed Infected Sweat Gland For Painful Lump On Neck Oozing Pus. Advice

Hi I have lump on my neck that the doctor said was an infected sweat gland. Well it bust yesterday and keeps oozing pus should I squeeze the remainder pus or just let it drain on it's own? It is very painful to the touch so I have just been put hot compresses on it and taking both antibiotics prescribed to me.

Hi, Thanks for asking on HCM

I would advice that you take an anti-inflammatory/painkiller also. Ibuprofen is an option. Its available OTC.

Continue with oral antibiotics for a week or so. It should resolve with it.

Squeezing should be avoided because it might lead to spread of infection to the surrounding tissues.

take care
