Diagnosed Large Ovarian Cyst In Right Ovary. On Painpills, Had CTs And Ultrasounds. On IUD. Right Treatment?

I've had pelvic pain in the right ovary region for well over a year since my son was born. I have an IUD placed a month after he was born. It's been a year and a half and I was just diagnosed (after many misdiagnosis) with a rather large ovarian cyst on my right ovary. The doctors have all been saying that it's going away on its own. It's been nearly 5 months since this whole ordeal started and I have concerns that I'm not receiving the correct treatment. I've been given pain pills, had 2 CTs and 2 ultrasounds. How does a cyst "look like the kind that go away on their own" when it hasn't? Aren't there many different types of cysts and should I worry about ovarian cancer?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Usually benign ovarian cysts can regress without treatment.
The usual symptoms of benign cysts are:
-Size less than 5 to 6 cms.
-Clear fluid containing.
-Without septa or septa with thickness less than 3 mm.
-No prominent adhesions etc.
So by considering the imagining features and blood investigations like CA 125 levels, the nature of the lesion can be made out.
Take care.
