Diagnosed Possible Penphigus Vulgaris. Waiting For Another Flare Up Of Oral Blisters For Biopsy. Guide

My dentist just told me that I probably have pemphigus vulgaris. He said he cannot find out for sure until I have another flare up of oral blisters and he does a biopsy. He told me to do some research on it in the meantime. Well, the research I did makes me want to jump off a window. I am not sure how to deal with just waiting and not knowing.

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

I understand your concern, pemphigus vulgaris is autoimmune intraepithelial disease which consists of blister formation on various parts of the skin and mucous membrane.

Diagnosis of the condition is done upon laboratory diagnosis and immunofluoresence studies.

I would suggest you to wait till the biopsy results come.

Management of the disease is through corticosteroids or immunosuppressive drugs.

Take care!
