Diagnosed With Neuro-endocrine Lung Cancer With Metastases To Liver. Has Blocked Ear. Tried Ear Drops. Treatment?
My husband was diagnosed with neuroendocrine lung cancer with metastases to liver (several lesions) and also to his lymph nodes mid chest 22 months ago. He has had 3 cycles of chemo the last treatment being in Nov 12. He has had several scans including MRI and now has a blocked ear on the same side as the cancer lesions. The drs have found there to be no infection. He has tried ear drops (both over counter and prescribed), antihistamines, but nothing has helped. It goes away when he lies down. Once he is up in the morning it takes only a few minutes for the symptoms to reoccur. What can I do to help?
WIth history of neuroendocrine lung cancer with liver metastases and 3 cycles of chemo, many important things need to be considered.
As you may be aware of chemo decreases the immunity in a patient making hime more susceptible to infections. Generally fungal infections are more common in the immunocompromised.
If your doctors have confirmed that there is no infection of any etiology in the ear, then that is great news.
I suggest your husband gets ear syringing done at the ENT clinic if there is a mechanical reason for the ear blockage.
Hope this helps.
