Diagnosed With PCOS. Took Glucophage. Stopped During Pregnancy. Safe To Take OKAMET While Breast Feeding?

Hi, I'm 27 and I am currently partial breast feeding my 10mth old son. I am diagnosed with PCOS in 2010. I took Glucophage before I was pregnant and while I was pregnant. But stopped after my 2nd trimester. I had not continue beCause I am not sure of it will affect my baby. May I know if it is safe to use OKAMET 500mg while breastfeeding?

Hello,
You were taking Tab metformin for PCOS. You stopped it during the 2nd trimester of pregnancy. Now have 10 months breast feeding child. you have a doubt about its side effect during breast feeding.
First you should not have stopped it. The tab helps you to get conceived and appears to reduce first trimester miscarriage and gestational diabetes.
During the breast feeding the concentration of the drug in the breast milk is very minimum(no harm for your child). So you are advised to cotinue the tab without any worry of breast feeding.
Best wishes
