From the details provided, It appears to be either, involvement of the cavity wall around the lungs (following Pneumonia); or, spasm of the muscles between the ribs (secondary to flu). These conditions cause typical chest pain while breathing in and out. Further, you treating doctor is probably right in suspecting acid reflux (drug-induced). However, addition of prokinetic drug (to Pepcid AC), such as domperidone will relieve her of nausea, loss of appetite and central chest pain. You have not mentioned if your daughter ahs been having frequent attacks of flu-like symptoms in the past. If this is true, then her recently-diagnosed asthma is allergic in nature and will therefore benefit tremendously with regular anti-allergics (such as, Montelukast) plus anti-histaminics (such as Ceterizine). Headache is apparently due to acute sinusitis, as part of flu syndrome. Headache and chest pains will be relieved with a short course of NSAIDs (anti-inflammatory/pain killers) such as ibuprofen + paracetamol combination. The extreme tiredness is due to viral infection which usually saps the entire energy from the body. Please give her milk/soup with nutrients and protein-rich powder + glucose and plenty of fluids, so that she gets adequate calories and nutrition. Please do not worry ; she will improve very soon.
