Diagnosed With Facial Nerve Enhancement Within The Intermastoid Portion Of The Internal Auditory Canal. Suggest Treatment
hi my name is Pauline. Ive been diagnosed with facial nerve enhancement within the intermastoid portion of the internal auditory canal. i passed out at dr.s office last tuesday then sent to hospital over nite for observation. had mri done. all my vital sighns were in normal range during this time. had severe headache , facial pain , ear pain. and eye pain all on left side of face. see a neurologist on wed. im a little nervous about this appointment.
I have gone through your query regarding facial pain , eye pain and headache on left side .
As you said your doctor diagnosed it as swelling of facial nerve in interamastiod region. This some times happens as a complication of neuritis and the swollen nerve gets pressed in a tight bony facial canal.
For treatment point of view here cortisone along with higher doses of neurotropic vitamins like Mecobalamine may be helpful.I think this treatment will solve your problem , unfortunately if it fails than neurologist opinion will be necessary for treatment.
Regards.
