Diagnosed With Gestational Diabetes, Unregulated Sugar Levels. Higher Dosage Of Insulin Necessary?

I have been diagnosed as having gestational diabetes and I am on a very low dose of insulin the last week but the sugars are still not regulating as they should. I have emailed in my readings to my diabetic health nurse this morning do you think I will have to go on a higher dosage of injections even with being on a strict no sugar no fat diet for almost a year now?

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
You have Gestational Diabetes and taking insulin yes if blood sugar readings are not controlled then dose may have to be increased, by proper dose titration one can control the level of blood sugar in most of the cases.
Please note you need to take good nutritious diet taking care avoiding refined sugar and too much fats take a regular walk if possible.
It is not clear are you still pregnant or not as in most cases after delivery blood sugar control is rapidly reached.
If blood sugar are still abnormal after delivery then you are frank diabetic and needs treatment accordingly.
Take care
Good Luck.
