Diagnosed With Perioral Dermatitis. Have Rashes Around Nostrils. Should I Consult A Dermatologist?
Hello, I have been told by my GP that I have perioral dermatitis. I am 41 years old (female) and have never had any skin problems before. It is presenting as a red rash around the base of nostrils, around my mouth and chin. It has also flared up between my eyes (above nose) and around my right eye. I am looking for some information on what this condition is, why I might have it, and the best course of action to treat it. The GP prescribed Doxycycline Sandoz 100mg for 4-8 weeks. I'm wondering if I should see a dermatologist for a second opinion before I start on this tablet?

Perioral dermatitis is a skin condition where one gets some red colored lesions, usually itchy around the mouth, mostly after application of some creams containing steroids.
The condition is fully treatable if correctly diagnosed.
the description you have given is going in favor of perioral dermattis. But to be sure, if possibble you can send me your pic or visit your dermatologist.
i would like to know whether you have dandruff or there is scaling on sides on nose or behind ear ?
Because there is one more condition known as seborrhoeic der matitis which present as red colored scaly rash on face.And the treatment is entirely different.
so, i will advise you to visit your dermatologist or send me your pic so that i can help you to my best.
