Difficulty And Pain While Eating And Swallowing. Which Doctor To Consult?

Doctor, i have the complaints of difficulty while eating and swallowing. While swallowing, i feel like my upper and lower part of my throat getting joined together, so i got pain while swallowing and also difficulty in swallowing. So i kindly request you to clear my doubt and also suggest me that which doctor i have to consult whether gastro, ENT, oncology. Please kindly clear my doubt so that i can quickly consult the doctor

Hi there,

Thanks for writing in.

Difficulty in swallowing is known as dysphagia. Depends on whether it is just a feeling or if it is actually present. Sometimes GERD , Anxiety etc can present with a subjective sensation of lump in the throat or difficulty in swallowing.

Other causes could be a growth in the oesophaus etc.

In any case, I feel it would be better for you to consult a gastroenterologist.
