Difficulty In Sleeping, Crazy Dreams. High BP. Taking Benazepril. Advice?

I am a 52 year old female with high blood pressure. I am slim and have a very good diet. My doctor started me on B Benazepril approx. 2 weeks ago. I cannot sleep at all at night, but i don't see insomnia listed as a side effect. At night i breathe deeply all night, but don't seem to be able to sleep until 5 or 6am. When i do sleep, i have abnormal, almost crazy dreams. I have never been comfortable taking prescription drugs. I'm quite sure i should quit taking Benazepril. But i would like your advice. Thank you so much!

HI
Thank for choosing HCM,
I think you better ask your doctor to change the anti hypertensive drug, the drug which you are taking is ACE inhibitor and this drug causes unwanted respiratory symptoms, which could some time disturb the sleep, I am not very much sure for this but nothing to loose in changing it, one more possibility of menopausal syndrome is likely, it is good to try low dose Benzodaizepin for few days, will help you a lot, drink a cup of hot milk before you go for bed, do not worry this is temporary phase and will go away soon, Have good sleep.
