Difficulty In Swallowing, Multinodular Goiter. Anything To Concern?

I have a multinodular goiter on the left side of the neck and had difficulty swallowing. I was prescribed omeprazole for acid reflux which has helped. I have a normal thyroid level the surgeon would have removed my goiter but i have inherited Long Q T Syndrome (LQT) so the doctor just wanted to keep a eye on the progress of the goitre. I am due another mri in december. But i have noticed that the goitre has now spread to the right side of my neck. I am worried about the LQT if the goitre becomes too complex, then i am at an even higher risk for surgery. Also i am getting intermittent Juglar discomfort especially on the Right side.

Hi thanks for your question.
Since the goiter is increasing in size. It has spreaded from left side to right .Compressing your jugular and causing difficulty in swallowing, you have to get it removed. As with further increase in size it can compress your trachea and can cause respiratory obstruction besides obstructing the venous drainage from your head. Having long QT syndrome is more risk for surgery and anaesthesia, but you have to take it and hopefully your anaesthesiologist will be able to manage it .Preferably get it removed at tertiary care center where you have services of cardiologist also available.
Hope this answers your question.
