Discharge With Strong Odor And Of Salmon Color. Years Ago Had Taken Depo Provera Shots. What Could This Be?

Hello I had gotten one depo provera shot about 3 years ago. About 2 weeks ago, I started spotting and then bleeding and then would spot again. Recently , about a few days ago, I have stopped spotting and now have a salmon color discharge with an odor. It's not a fishy smell, but its strong and no matte what soaps I use or how often, it still comes back within a few hours. What should I do? What could this be?

Thanks for the query.
The possible causes for your problem are :
- Hormonal imbalance leading to intermenstrual spotting.
- Pelvic infection leading to smell, associated cervical erosion etc leading to spotting etc.
-Cervical polyps or endometrial abnormalities etc.
So, once consult gynecologist and get examined.
By examination the possible local causes like cervical erosion etc can be ruled out.
If your doctor recommends go for ultrasound once.
If there are any signs of infection, you need antibiotics course.
If hormonal imbalance is found to be the cause for your problem, you may need hormonal pills for few months to normalize the hormonal levels.
