Hello, im expeirencing alot of discomfort after drinking. Im 21 year old male decent fitness eat well smoke 20 cigarettes a day drinking once a week maybe with varied comsumption.(13 max a night) My symptoms are as follows, trapped wind, alot of gas, ears ringing throbbing, always anxious and nervous, dizzy feeling like im going to fall over, finding it hard to sleep and mood swings. Ive been to 4 diffrent doctors and have got diffrent answers on all visits was diagnosed with anxiety on 3. feeling very hopeless right now just want an answer that makes sense to me.Thanks

Hi,

It is understandable that you are feeling confused, and that is adding to your nervousness. The symptoms that you have described can very well be due to anxiety, but what is causing the anxiety is not very clear. I would like you to know that heavy intake of tobacco/alcohol or other substances may be followed by anxiety, which is a common withdrawal symptom. In addition, these substances can also produce long-lasting changes in the brain, ultimately resulting in an anxiety disorder. In your case, the best option, in my opinion, would be that you quit alcohol, at least cut down on smoking and see whether your health improves over time. If around a month later, you still have the same symptoms, then you should consider starting some medication for anxiety.
