Discomfort In Left Rib Cage, Swallowing Difficulty, White Phlegm With Brown Spots. Cure?

Hi I have a discomfort in my left rib cage and a feeling that something is stuck in my throat all the time. It makes me feel like I can t swallow so I try to cough it up when it comes up its white with brown spots. I am a smoker but have never experienced anything like this. My chest also feels slightly heavy. Should I go to my GP?

Hi Lisa,

Yes, you should go to your GP and get yourself a chest x-ray done. If it is not showing any specific cause, a high resolution CT scan of the thorax can also be performed to look for any cause in the lungs.

I hope to have answered your query.

Get well soon.
