Do Gentamycin And Durezol Eye Drops Cause Headaches?

I want to share information about feeling sick after using eye drops for a cataract procedure. I had started on a muscle relaxer for my back, the same time I had my right eye procedure. I thought the muscle relaxer was making me sick. After the second day of the surgery, I decided not to take the muscle relaxer anymore, so after applying the drops that morning, I began to feel that sickening feel. Sick on the stomach, headache and just didn t want to do anything. I am using Ilevro, Gentamicin and Durezol. I am sharing my experience to help someone else. Not. Looking for an answer from the doctor. I just assume I am allergic to the medication. However, I can t wait to have the cataract removed from my left eye. Things are so much clearer in my right eye. I would have never thought eye drops could make you feel sick. I want to let people know, yes they can, because they need to know.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The Durezol is a Dufluprednate ophthalmic solution used in variety of clinical conditions for its anti-inflammatory actions as topical steroid. The usual side effects of the same consists of:
- Blurred vision
- Tearing eyes
- Flashes of lights or photo-sensitivity
- Redness or irritation of eye
- Itching and swelling of the eyelid

Headache is not a usual side effect, though any individual can pursue any of the ill effects not previously described. Hence, it is the best way to report the issue to your treating ophthalmologist and let him or her decide further course of actions.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
