My wife of 62 age is suffering indigestion for several months. When she is taking medicine, she feels well. After taking meal, mouth acidic, stomach is aching with twisting and loose undigested bowels. Now according to physician, she is taking Rifagut 200mg twice dally. after taking 10 tab, it is discontinued and the loose bowels starts though other symptoms have not yet come. Shall I continue the medicine, if yes then how long?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

When Rifagut is used to treat traveler's diarrhea, it is usually taken three times a day for 3 days. Hence, in my opinion there is no need to continue using the medication.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
