Do I Need To Take An I-Pill After Unprotected Sex While Using Regesterone To Delay My Period?

Hi, I have been taking regesterone (15mg) tablet since 17th feb to delay my periods which were due on 24th. As per my doctor’s advise, to complete the course i need to take the regesterone pill uptil 27th. I had unprotected sex on 23rd feb. Would u recommend to take an ipill along with regesterone pill but at a different timings to avoid pregnancy?

Hello,

If it is still within 72 hours of sex, taking an i-Pill is recommended to reduce pregnancy risk. Regesterone (norethisterone) is mainly prescribed for delaying periods. It is not a contraceptive pill. Continue to take Regesterone as prescribed by your doctor, but expect period changes like irregular bleeding, a delayed next period, and spotting. If your period is delayed by more than a week after stopping Regesterone, do a pregnancy test.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
