My husband is a pancreatic cancer patient with blood clots he was on xarelto and changed to eliquis now his glucose levels are 500+ taking metformin 1000mg 2xdaily only brings it down to high 200 . Does taking these blood thinners have anything to do with his glucose levels elevating?

Hello,

Blood thinners may not cause elevated blood sugar levels. Pancreatitis itself may cause elevation of blood sugar levels.

Tablet metformin itself may not reduce the blood sugar levels. Use tablet pantoprazole before breakfast for one week.

Get it done fasting and postprandial blood sugar. Then consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
