Do Zinc Supplements Affect The Menstrual Cycle?

Hi, I started taking zinc supplement (35 mg) a month ago (about 30 tablets now) and I am wondering could it affect my menstrual cycle? I am a week late, so I was wondering if zinc could be causing it. I have to mention, that I did not consult any doctor before starting taking zinc, so I am not sure if zinc level in me is high or low... Thank you in advance.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Intake of zinc supplements is not known to cause delay in getting periods.
Generally, periods are delayed due to stress, anxiety and apprehension.
Hence, relax and you should get your periods.
If the delay is for more than 10 days, seek medical attention promptly by consulting Obstetrician for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
