Do Antibiotics Taken For Chlamydia Interfere With Depo Shots?

Hi I have been on depo for 3 years my last shot was in July and I was 2 weeks late for the injection. After I received the injection I found out I had chlamydia and recived the two pills and I was still having symptoms so I got a weeks worth of antibiotics. I am having pregnancy symptoms and I m wondering if the antibiotics could have interfered with the depo and I am pregnant

1. In my best opinion none of the antibiotics affect the effectiveness of any form of hormonal birth control [except rifampicin used in tuberculosis], so ideally call you OBGYN or attending doctor to verify about any drug interaction and side effects.

PS. If any moment you feel that you are at risk of pregnancy or transmission of an STD, one should use additional protection such as a condom/vaginal pouch, which will help protect you from unwanted pregnancy regardless of any interaction with your antibiotic.

2. In between you can go for Home pregnancy test and/or pregnancy test at nearby health clinic.

PS. unless treated chlamydia may spread to fallopian tubes or ovaries resulting in PID [pelvic inflammatory disease] which may cause sterility by scarring and blocking the fallopian tubes resulting in ectopic pregnancy [emergency situation]

3. As for now one has to remember the following points:
. inform your sex partner about the infection, i.e. refrain from intercourse until the treatment is complete
. make sure that your partner is screened and treated at the same time.
