Do Anxiety Attacks Cause An Abnormal EKG Reading?

I was having a severe anxiety attack and shaking when they did an EKG on me and it was abnormal - they did 3 more EKGs and blood work on me in ER and they were all normal they asked me to see a cardiologist to see if the abnormal EKG was indicative of a real problem. could the anxiety and shaking have caused the abnormal EKG?

Hi,

Panic attacks may can cause sinus tachycardia. If your already a patient of underlying cardiovascular disease may lead aggravation of cardiac pain and ischemia.

This time anxiety induced ECG may present like ischemic symptoms. Do yoga and meditation. use anti anxiety medication. Please consult your physician/cardiologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
