Do Cold, Canker Sores And Swollen Lymph Nodes After Oral Sex Suggest HIV?

last summer i had oral sex with a guy. I recently found out that he is bisexual and has slept with other men. I tested negative for any STDS but i have not had an HIV test. After doing what you are not supposed to do (looking up info on the internet) i have not had any distinct symptoms but have had some issues come up that could be coincidental (ie, a cold after my mom was sick, repetrtive canker sores during exam periods, a swollen lymph node in neck during allergies) not sure if I am just paranoid or if I should just go and get tested

Hello,

You unknowingly had sex with a bisexual and now you are suffering from cold, canker sores and swollen lymph nodes after oral sex. You are worried if you are infected with HIV. You are suggested to visit a GP and get repeat STD tests done. If found positive you will be treated with antibiotics and antivirals. There are many home kits to test for HIV but taking that option will not help you get any counselling. Get tested for HIV in a laboratory under a Physician so that treatment and counselling may go hand in hand if found positive.

Since you think you have been exposed to HIV infection you can talk to your Physician and get PEP (Post exposure prophylaxis) treatment done. PEP is effective in preventing HIV infection when it’s taken correctly, however it’s not 100% effective. The sooner you take PEP after a possible HIV exposure, the better. Stay away from addictions if any. Avoid sex till you are under treatment. Take care of your hygiene. Do not take stress, do not panic.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
