Do Compression Socks Help In Alleviating The Leg Pain?

Yes, I have been having severe pain in my left leg. Started yesterday and kept me up last night. Tylenol doesn t seem to help. Compression sock helps from radiating up my leg and down but the center pain is still there about midcalf on the inside.

Hello,

Compression socks are not made for the purpose you are asking for, they do not alleviate pain.

They merely help to prevent blood from pooling in the legs, so they may be used to prevent venous clots in immobilized patients or lowering of blood pressure in standing up.

They do not alleviate pain, the benefit you feel must be from the compression suppressing other sensations but doesn't do much about the source of the pain.

I would suggest for the moment to take Ibuprofen (Advil) instead of Tylenol for the pain as it has also anti-inflammatory and mild blood thinning properties, but afterwards you have to get your leg checked by your primary physician to try to determine the cause (blood circulation, nerve, muscle or joint related origin).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
