Do Cut On The Inside And Bruising On The Outside Of The Cheek Need Medical Attention?

I hit my face opening the door and it cut my skin in my mouth and the bruising is on the outside of my cheek too. I didn t go to the hospital because it was just a cut on the inside but when I woke up in the morning there was a bruise on the outside of my cheek. I don t want to go to the hospital if I don t need to but I don t want it to get infected. What should I do.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are having symptoms of cut on the inside and bruising on the outside of the cheek which is probably due to small hematoma which occurs due to rupturing of blood vessels due to sudden cheek bite or under influence of some medications. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit oral surgeon once and get thorough examination done. You should apply numbing gel such as lignocaine gel on it if it is really painful. Maintain complete hygiene and start with antiinflammatory medication. Your symptoms will resolve in 5-7 days. Avoid pricking it again and again and you should take soft and bland food. Drink plenty of fluids.
