I got a stroke a month ago due to high blood pressure. The neurologist said I got 3 small for 5 daysll strokes.I was hospitalized for 5 days.My brain is intact, but the fingers on my left hand were literally lifeless. Before I left the hospital,I was told to do therapy but because I dlineon t have i.nsurance and no,t money Io couldn,t start the therapy. Nevertheless, I am trying to help myself by doing some exercises I see online for hand stroks. Will this help me?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
Post CVA hand paralysis is usually complete. Usually it is hemiplegia and also affects same side upper limb and lower limb. Recovery may be complete or incomplete and time duration also varies in different patients. So physiotherapy is must to keep joints of upper and lower limb flexible and to prevent stiffness till power in muscle recovers. If you do not attend physiotherapist hand joints will become stiff. If recovery comes in muscle after few months joints must be flexible to function. If you have money issue you can learn them and do at home. But do physiotherapy. All the best.
