Do Hormone Therapies Affect Breasts?

I am currently going through IVF treatment and have been on a few injection regimens for transfer and egg retrievals. I have naturally fibrocystic breasts which are not usually painful to the touch. I have a slight lump/swelling maybe, that is a bit painful to the touch on what could be my sternum. Would it be safe to say that the hormone therapies I have been on and off of are affecting my breasts and not to worry?

Hello,

You can safely proceed with IVF treatment. The fibrocystic disease is a harmless condition and does not cause any problems. You might experience pain but can be managed effectively with drugs like mefenamic acid.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
