Hi,

I am surprised that you are on high dose of neomercazole for 6-8 yrs. Are you taking really 100 mg? or wrongly typed 10mg?

In my practice I start Neomercazole at a dose of 30-60 mg initially. Then I will check thyroid function tests every 2-3 months and gradually decrease the dose to 5-10 mg. This I will give to a maximum of 2 yrs. If thyroid function is not normalized or if I cant stop medications after 2 yrs, I will do a radio iodine ablation or surgery on thyroid to have a cure of hyperthyroidism.

This medication is not one that you can take lifelong.
The weight will return to normal once your thyroid function is normal.
Diet in hyperthyroidism is iodine free diet (decreased intake of see foods, salt). Please check the thyroid function before starting on diet plan.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help
With warm regards,
