hi
i am a nursing mom to a 4 month old baby.a week back i noticed that i have some kind of sputtering sound when i am breathing out that last bit of air though my nose only when compressing my stomach with effort that sounds like phegm.i do not have any inconvenient phlegmatic cough nor can i cough out any even with effort.i have another 3 year old who has a little cold and cough that has lasted 2 weeks she does not seem to be very inconvenient except that she coughs when she has phlegm formation in her throat and then it clears off .only problem is her does not know how and when to spit it out.i am just worried for children.

Hi my dear,

Your symptoms and the signs of your children are related to a common viral infection.

You should drink more water and fluids and give more water and juices to your children too.

I also suggest to keep monitoring the temperature of yours and of your children and record the results for future reference.

If you keep well hydrated, the phlegm will be easily removed. If the cough is unbearable, should start herbal cough treatment.

In case, you and your children will have high fever up to 39 that won't come down, I'd suggest to consult with your doctor as you might need to take oral antibiotics.

Hope it was of help!
