Do I Need To Stop Putting The Paper Tape On Toe To Relieve The Itch And Pressure?

i have a broken sesamoid bone under my big toe. It happened 3 weeks ago. Now it is itchy. Do I stop putting the paper tape on the toe to relieve the itch and pressure. Most of the swelling in itchy areas is gone, but total mobility is not there yet. Dr. appointment follows up in another week

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
- The fracture sesamoid bone takes six weeks to heal. the immobilisation has to be continued for minimum 6 weeks.you therefore should not remove the support to the part till then.
- consult orthopedic doctor in time.
- For good healing I would suggest -
- Avoid weight gearing by use of crutches/ metatarsal pad inside the shoe with ankle with foot splint
-Take NSAIDs for anti inflammatory effect.( Like Brufen)
- Calcium,Vitamin D ,Vitamin C supplimentation would help.
Thanks
